Child & Youth Programme

Children Care: Global Care & Sport Initiatives offers four (4) types of child home care: after school care & extended hours care, weekend care, and summer care. Daily Schedules: Schedules vary from time to time according to the needs of the children and program variations.

  • After school care: Focus on educational and recreational activities for children at the end of their school day. This program is valuable for parents with later work schedules, providing dependable care in a structured environment. (homework support, language classes, arts and sports). This program is tailored for parents with early start or late work schedules, offering flexibility and the convenience of care beyond regular hours.
  • Weekend care (Saturday): This program is an option for families with non-traditional work schedules or those seeking additional social and professional activities. The program offers flexibility and other opportunities for local integration like basic learning (reading, speaking) of French.
  • Summer care: The program provides a comprehensive care and a consistent daily routine, creating a valuable option for families with standard hours including variety sports activities in our rich park environment. The summer program is particularly beneficial for elder preschool aged children who can manage a longer day, supporting both their development and social needs. Our neighbourhood is rich with a variety of parks associated with a certain number of recreative activities profitable for the development of children.

Youth program: Global Care & Sport Initiatives support Youth Opportunities to:

  • empower refugee and immigrant youth through meaningful engagement
  • recognize, utilize and develop refugee and immigrant youth capacities and skills
  • invest into activities and projects led by youth to improve their social and economic well-being.
  • ensure refugee and immigrant youth-focused protection

Support the Persons with Specific Needs (PSN)

The GC-SIO supports the Persons with Specific Needs (PSN), targeting the most vulnerable persons with disability, persons with mental health and older persons at risk through the provisions of a holistic support, including targeted interventions such as home-based care, specialized care services, material support, and facilitation access to services. The case management process includes identification, assessment, case intervention planning, intervention, and follow-up.

Sport and recreational activities / using sport as a tool for cohesion and resilience

Sport is a key factor in a cohesive and prosperous community. It helps achieve results in areas such as education, health, and social development. It is unmatched in its ability to connect the heart, mind, and body, to connect individuals and inspire them to always do their best. Sport also fosters a sense of belonging, improves social connectivity, inclusion, and the building of long-term friendships. Sport is not just a game, but a culture that unites
people of different backgrounds, languages, and identities. In this context and with the goal of promoting social cohesion in the affected population while providing opportunities to children who may not have them. Sport yes, but education as a priority! It is essential to make education a priority. Although sport is a passion, academic success must be put first because it provides a solid foundation for the future. Preparation for inter-school competitions is a fundamental process that involves the training of sports teams within a school and their subsequent participation in tournaments or competitions against other
educational institutions. The creation of these inter-school sports events promotes
sportsmanship, camaraderie and provides students with the opportunity to develop their sports and teamwork skills.

Key areas of interventions.

  • Education integration: Sport and recreational activities targeting specific disadvantaged and vulnerable groups including children, adolescents, youths, and among immigrants, refugees and host affected population. “Sport School” programs to prioritize academic success.
  • Community Leagues: organization of football tournaments uniting immigrant and refugee communities and locals
  • Rehabilitated spaces: improve physical spaces for community and youth use/ upgrading playgrounds and sports facilities

  • Community Governance: Training local leaders in project management. Foster resilience, and build strong, supportive communities where communities can succeed and lead.

Global Care and Sport Initiatives impact is vastly magnified by its partnerships with other organizations through bringing on board specialized expertise, with dedicated local workforce and unparalleled knowledge of areas or communities, some have networks of influence that are invaluable for mobilizing wider support to scale and momentum of collaboration.  In addition, efforts will be put in partnering with local community-based organizations, non-governmental and development actors to enhance skills building and broaden opportunities for livelihoods programming to facilitate self-reliance of communities soon.

  • Non-Profit Organizations /CBOs: Co-designing culturally relevant programs
  • Government & UN Agencies: Advocacy for policy change
  • Private Sector: Sponsorships for livelihoods and sports infrastructure & activities that promote cohesion.

By addressing urgent needs (Pillar 1), providing protection of children and Youth (Pillar 2),

capacity (Pillar 5), and leveraging partnerships (Pillar 6), the GC-SIO creates a virtuous cycle
